![]() ![]() WordPress has gotten huge and complicated and bloated, and I don’t really understand how it works anymore, and that makes me wary. MarsEdit 4 customers can upgrade for 29.95, and MarsEdit 5 is a free update for. However, I’m starting to get the idea that WordPress itself may not be the best home for me anymore, and that maybe I should move to something that more closely maps to my needs. MarsEdit 5.0 is available as a one-time purchase for 59.95, and you can try it for 14 days for free. What I really want is a way to do MarsEdit style posts from my iPad. MarsEdit 2.0.4 is worth considering if you’d like the comfort of composing your posts locally and keeping back-up copies. There was a time when the Editorial app was the go-to solution for this sort of thing, but the post-to-Wordpress workflow doesn't appear to work for me, and it's also not clear how supported or long-lived Editorial is at this point (which is a shame). The Uly people have been helpful, but their approach to MD isn’t what I’d like, and posting from there is not creating the kind of clearly-markdown post I want - I keep having to go back in and fix the markdown, which Wordpress makes difficult if it’s possible at all (the “code” editor, it turns out, still tries to escape things and whatnot). WordPress now seems to support the idea of writing in MD just fine, but most of the tools I’m finding that purport to support Markdown blogging in Wordpress are just converting your posts to HTML on post. I just spent some time playing with both, and neither seem to answer the mail for me AT ALL. It’s been years since I used either the Wordpress app or the Wordpress web back-end. I want this to continue, and I have no interest in having one format for posts made from my laptop and another for posts from my iPad. The blog is set up so that my posts, which are authored in Markdown, are actually also stored as Markdown. The blog itself runs WordPress, and has for years, though it’s old enough that it’s been hosted on several systems. MarsEdit makes you free from internet connection dependencies and streamlines content. Let’s say I have just gotten myself a fancy new iPad, and I want to be able to post from it just as I do from my laptop. Unveil the new way to create, edit, and publish blog articles.
